Discussion > Comox Valley Ciclovia planned?
The name has been changed, but the idea is the same. See
Car Free Day
The event is not a "CVCCo" event, but I certainly see the Coalition supporting it. It definitely falls into our mandate.

Hi Linda, and thank you for your great letter to the editor.
Regarding the proposed Ciclovia. As Brian already mentioned, the name of the event has been changed to 'First Ever Car Free Sunday'. If you have not already found the original Facebook site on it you will find it here: http://www.facebook.com/n/?event.php&eid=127942717286912&mid=472f605G2be8eee2G7c2c6ceG42&bcode=6ng8WtYB&n
The organiser of the event is Andrew Gower and he will be giving a presentation about it to the Comox Valley Cycle Task Force tomorrow (Tuesday) in the Council Chambers of Courtenay City Hall between 3:00 and 4:30 PM.
This would be the best place to find out what the event is all about and how the Task Force reacts to it.
So far, the Cycling Coalition has not taken a position to this event as not enough of the detail has been worked out. I am personally in favor of having Car Free Street Days in our Valley, but we will need to know more about what is planned for September 25 before the Cycling Coalition can edorse and support it.
Hope you can make it to the meeting tomorrow so we can discuss this further.

Just wondering, is this is a Coalition event? I'd love to get involved in helping plan something like this through the Coalition. Thanks for any information you can provide.
